A guy named Eric Nwombu has been detained by agents of the Anambra State Police Command’s Inspector General of Police Safe School Initiative on suspicion of impersonation and illegal possession of JAMB examination materials.
According to Naija News, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Police Public Relations Officer, said this in Awka.
Eight JAMB exam slips and an exercise book with student names and exam numbers were found on the suspect, according to the statement. Additionally, he was unable to provide a detailed explanation of how he obtained the materials.
The guy was allegedly apprehended following a report from a computer cafe in Atani, where he had been gathering 2026 JAMB exam slips from students who visited their testing locations.
According to reports, he claimed to be a JAMB 2026 coordinator in Atani. But his actions raised suspicions among the computer cafe staff, who then called the police. The culprit attempted to flee when police arrived, but they were apprehended.
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal inquiry Department in Awka for additional work after preliminary inquiry is completed.
Anambra State Police Commissioner CP Ikioye Orutugu reaffirmed the command’s dedication to preserving the legitimacy of public exams. Additionally, he urged the public to remain vigilant and notify the police of any suspicious conduct.
