In an effort to bolster his government, Mohammed Umaru Bago, the governor of Niger State, has authorized the employment of four political aides and six new commissioners-designate.
According to Naija News, Abubakar Kuta, the Information Officer in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, signed and released a statement on Tuesday announcing the appointments.
The announcement states that if the Niger State House of Assembly confirms the six nominees, they will become commissioners.
Lucky Barau from Gurara Local Government Area, Isah Wakili from Bosso, Dr. Isah Adamu from Kontagora, Emmanuel Alamu from Magama, Shuaibu Saidu Kaboji from Mashegu, and Mohammed Danladi Garba from Borgu are the nominees.
Nma Kolo’s appointment as Chief Political Advisor was also approved by the governor.
Salman Yusuf, Yusuf Tagwai, and Yahaya Emilugi were designated as Special Advisers on Political Matters for Zones A, B, and C, respectively.
According to Abubakar Usman, Secretary to the State Government, the nominations were made in order to increase service delivery, enhance governance, and encourage broader participation within the state.
“Niger State Governor Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has approved the appointment of six Commissioners-Designate, subject to confirmation by the State House of Assembly,” the statement said.
It further stated that the administration’s attempts to improve its governance structure included the political appointments. In accordance with the law, the six commissioners-designate are anticipated to come before the State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
