Before the 2027 presidential election, previous presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi have been cautioned by Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho not to take their campaigns to the South-West.
According to Naija News, Igboho stated in a video that went viral online on Sunday that he would not permit political followers to advertise the two politicians throughout the Yoruba region.
He said that anyone intending to run for Atiku or Obi in the South-West should refrain from doing so because such actions would not be accepted there.
The activist expressed his unwavering support for Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria.
“Yorubaland will no longer have needless Atiku or Obi. Campaign for one Atiku or Obi in the Yoruba region if you are aware that you are insane.
100% for Tinubu’s second term after 2027. We will hope for more years of Asiwaju after eight years. It’s for Asiwaju in Yorubaland and Lagos. The activist said, “We will all vote for him.
He declared that attempts would be made to keep Tinubu in power past the next election cycle and that the region will continue to support him politically.
Igboho also discussed Tinubu’s leadership prospects, stating that Lagos residents and those in other regions of Yorubaland will strongly support the president.
When the time comes, he said, the people in the area would vote for the president in large numbers.
Just a few weeks after returning to Nigeria, he made these remarks. Igboho spent years abroad before returning to the nation on January 26, 2026.
After the federal authorities decided to take his name off the list of wanted individuals, he returned.
President Tinubu has already been urged by a number of reputable traditional leaders to permit the activist to return home.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja; the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Francis Alao, were among those who spoke on his behalf.
After security personnel broke into Igboho’s home in Ibadan, Oyo State, in July 2021, he fled Nigeria.
Officers from the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services participated in the operation.
At the time, authorities accused him of having illicit firearms in his house.
Igboho was aggressively campaigning against armed herders who had been connected to attacks on farmers and kidnappings in Southwestern woodlands at the time of the raid.
During the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the authorities labeled him wanted after the event.
Despite favorable court rulings, his Nigerian passport was revoked and his financial accounts were frozen.
