Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara’s defection, according to the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won the state’s citizens over.

This occurred as the committees established by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) to hold party primaries and delegate congresses before to the House of Assembly bye-elections in Rivers State on February 21 came to an end.

Following the successful execution of the exercises in both constituencies on Sunday, members of the committees for Khana State Constituency II and Ahoada East State Constituency II gave a combined press briefing.

Shehu Dange, the chairman of the Congress and Primary Committee for Ahoada East State Constituency II, stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s admission to the APC has strengthened the party’s bonds with Rivers State residents.

Residents’ responses throughout the constituency, according to Danga, show a renewed faith in the party’s leadership.

“As we moved around the constituency, we saw the reactions of the people,” he stated. They are pleased with the recent change and the appointment of a new APC leader in the state.

“The APC family has become even more unified under Governor Fubara’s leadership. Because it now has a leader with purpose and focus, the party is growing stronger in Rivers State.

However, Barrister Smart Iheanazor, Secretary of the Delegate Congress and Party Primary Committee for Ahoada East State Constituency II, credited the public’s faith in the governor for the enthusiasm seen during the process.

“Most importantly, there was no doubt about their commitment when they were chanting ‘Renewed Hope’ in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” he stated. As we observed, the entire Ahoada region came out in huge numbers.

Ayoala Peter, the chairman of the Delegate Congress and Party Primary Committee for Khana State Constituency II, stated that the enthusiasm shown by party members suggests that, under Governor Fubara’s leadership, the APC is well-positioned to win both the 2027 general elections and the bye-elections on February 21.

“Party members waited eagerly despite the distance between wards and the time it took to reach some of them,” he stated. Their joy and desire to take part in the process were evident.

In order to choose delegates who will cast ballots in the party’s primaries prior to the bye-elections, the APC committees had already held ward congresses in Ahoada-East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II.

Along with members of the party’s appeal committee, the Congress and Primary Committee, led by Shehu Dange and secretary Barrister Smart Iheanazor, oversaw the activity in Ahoada East State Constituency II.

The process was also observed by security organizations like the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services (DSS), as well as observers from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which was headed by the Assistant Electoral Officer in charge of Operations for the Local Government Area, Okogbule Emilia.

Party members participated in the congress by casting voice votes.

In a similar vein, the APC congress in Khana State Constituency II took place concurrently, and party leaders oversaw the open ballot technique used to elect delegates.

Ayoala Peter presided over the activity, which was overseen by INEC representatives and security organizations like the Nigeria Police Force and the DSS.

From each ward in the constituency, five delegates were chosen.

In order to choose the party’s candidates for the House of Assembly bye-elections in Ahoada East State Constituency II and Khana State Constituency II on February 21, the elected delegates from both constituencies will now take part in the APC primaries.
