Tein Jack-Rich, a politician and businessman, has issued a warning against what he sees as moves by newcomers to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to push out longstanding members of the ruling party.
According to Naija News, Jack-Rich issued the warning in Abuja while filing his nomination and expression of interest forms to run on the APC platform for the Rivers West Senate seat.
The APC leader said in a statement he signed on Thursday, May 7, that although the party should keep accepting new members, it must not desert those who have supported it from its founding.
He believes that the APC’s influx of politicians is beneficial for the development of democracy, but the party needs to find a balance between welcoming new members and defending the rights of devoted ones.
Members who backed the APC when its future was uncertain shouldn’t be disregarded now that the party is in charge of the federal government, according to Jack-Rich.
“What is important to the party is to continue to recognize and honor legacy members who have been there from inception while also accommodating new entrants for growth,” he stated.
“It is important to hold dear your biological child while adopting new children,” he continued. That equilibrium needs to be preserved.
The senatorial candidate claimed that many of the APC’s original members had to deal with challenging times, political pressure, and criticism when some individuals questioned the party’s viability.
He claimed that since the party has attracted new members, it would be unjust to ignore these members.
“We were there when they called us names,” Jack-Rich said. When they tried to stop us and didn’t believe in us, I was there.
“Some people are attempting to drive us out now that we have a president. We won’t put up with it.
Jack-Rich Says He Wants to Be in the Senate
Speaking about his aspirations, Jack-Rich stated that he chose to run for the Rivers West Senate seat in order to give the district knowledgeable and effective representation.
He claimed to be one of the APC’s longstanding supporters at the state and federal levels and to have continuously contributed to the party’s and its candidates’ success.
“I have been one of the key supporters of this party at both the state and national levels,” he declared. I have and will continue to support senators, governors, assembly members, representatives, and even presidents.
Jack-Rich declared his assurance that he would win the party ticket and be elected to the Senate.
“I am happy to say I have submitted my form, and I am going to work hard for the primaries,” he declared. I firmly believe that I will be elected to the Senate. Rivers West will flourish once more.
The APC candidate claimed that his more than 28 years of expertise in the oil and gas industry had equipped him to make a significant contribution to legislative activity, particularly on matters pertaining to the energy sector.
He claimed that in order to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration with ideas and laws that would boost oil output and bolster the economy, the Senate needed senators with an understanding of the oil industry.
“We need a senator who understands the oil industry and can support the president with bills and ideas that will help us produce more oil,” Jack-Rich stated.
Because of its economic significance and potential to produce oil, he characterized Rivers West as one of the nation’s most strategic senatorial districts.
He claims that the Rivers West Senatorial District is Nigeria’s oil bank and the largest in the state in terms of landmass.
“I am familiar with the terrain and the problems because my field is in Rivers West.”
