In advance of Nigeria’s national elections in 2027, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the winners of the party primaries for Senate and House of Representatives seats in Plateau State.
Mrs. Stella Oketete, the chairman of the Plateau Primary Election Committee, made the news on Tuesday night in Jos.
According to Oketete, the primaries were held in a transparent and peaceful manner in a number of senatorial zones and constituencies.
Beni Lar, Langtang North/Langtang South, Dachung Bagos, Jos South/Jos East, Abubakar Shaibu, Jos North/Bassa, and Yusuf Gagdi, Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituencies, were among the party’s candidates for the House of Representatives, according to her.
Ishaya Lalu, Mangu/Bokkos, Dalyop Fom, Barkin Ladi/Riyom, Joe Dashe, Mikang/Qua’an Pan/Shendam, and Idris Wase were among the other contenders, according to her.
Additionally, Oketete said that Sen. Simon Lalong would run for the senatorial districts of Plateau South, David Barji for Plateau Central, and Simon Mwadkwon for Plateau North.
The chairman expressed gratitude to Caleb Mutfwang, the governor of Plateau State, for his cooperation and assistance in helping her committee perform its duties effectively.
Isa Pantami, a former minister of communications and digital economy, has resigned from the Gombe State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary.
The former Minister’s decision to withdraw from the race was based on party officials’ failure to create the circumstances required for a legitimate primary process and violations of the 2026 Electoral Act.
Barrister Ibrahim M. Attahir, speaking on behalf of the Pantamiyya Movement, announced his intention to withdraw from the competition on Tuesday.
According to the former minister, his choice was made after thorough stakeholder engagements and a thorough analysis of the state’s APC direct primaries.
