According to reports, Princess Damilola Sonayon-James has been chosen by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to run for deputy governor in Lagos State in the 2027 election.
As the ruling party gets ready for the next governorship election in the state, Naija News is aware that she will run with Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the party’s nominee for governor.
Sonayon-James, a native of Badagry, is well-known within the party for her support of increased female leadership and public service participation as well as her involvement in grassroots politics.
She is currently the APC’s Deputy State Chairman in Lagos, according to Vanguard. She was actively involved in numerous party events throughout the state and served as the party’s State Assistant Woman Leader prior to being appointed to that role.
She has also served in local government as part of her political background. She was involved in the management of community development initiatives while serving as Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture and Social Services in Badagry West Local Council Development Area.
Sonayon-James has established a career in business and sustainability management outside of politics. She has experience in business sustainability, logistics, and human resources. In addition, she serves as DGS Chauffeurs and Logistics’ CEO.
She graduated from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology with a master’s degree in social work. She also graduated from the University of Hull with a degree in business and human resources management.
In the upcoming days, the party is anticipated to make an official declaration.
