2027: Every ADC presidential candidate, with the exception of me, Amaechi, is a regional candidate

Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State, has characterized all African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential hopefuls as regional contenders.

According to Naija News, Amaechi and past presidential contenders Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar are all hoping to become the ADC flagbearer in the 2027 presidential contest.

In an interview with Channels Television prior to the party’s presidential primary, the former minister of transportation claimed to be the only candidate in the party who does not prioritize regional interests.

Citing President Bola Tinubu and supporters of the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Amaechi emphasized that the usage of region and ethnicity to select who controls Nigeria contributed to the country’s current predicament.

“The former vice president has the right to declare his desire to run, and no one is stopping him,” he declared. However, he must also recognize that his origins are not the only determinant.

“I am not a regional candidate, but they are all.” Despite being half Igbo, I’m not running because of my ethnicity.

“Leave region and ethnicity alone,” I have told Nigerians. We are here because of that. A religious agenda was being pursued by those who backed President Tinubu. The Muslim-Muslim ticket made them very delighted.

They have found today that neither Muslims nor Christians are well-known in the market. The market doesn’t speak any other language but naira and kobo.
