
Felix Ohagwu has been appointed as the 47th Commissioner of Police in the state by the Nigeria Police Force’s Ondo State Command.
After Adebowale Lawal is deployed by Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu, Ohagwu takes over.
According to the Command, the deployment was a part of the police authorities’ continuous efforts to enhance national policing and bolster internal security.
DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, made this announcement in a statement.
Ohagwu is a seasoned police officer with over thirty years of service, according to the statement.
According to the Command, the new police commissioner has held several investigative, operational, and administrative positions around the nation.
It further stated that his background will be helpful in maintaining peace, enhancing crime prevention, and boosting public trust in Ondo State’s police.
Ohagwu promised to strengthen the state’s current security system when he took office.
He declared that while strengthening proactive policing throughout communities, his administration will place a high priority on protecting people and property.
In order to combat crime and criminality, the new commissioner also stated that the Command would step up intelligence collection, community involvement, and cooperation with sister security organizations.
He said that professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights will be the driving forces behind security activities under his supervision.
Ohagwu reassured the state’s citizens that the Command would continue to be dedicated to responsible and compassionate law enforcement.
CP Ohagwu declared, “The Command under my leadership will remain committed to transparency, accountability, professionalism, respect for human rights, and a corruption-free policing system.”
He added that the Command’s officers and staff would be expected to maintain honesty, moral behavior, and high-quality service.
According to the new CP, the Command would follow international best practices for law enforcement.
Ohagwu thanked the Inspector-General of Police for having faith in him during the assignment.
Additionally, he praised Adebowale Lawal, the departing commissioner, for his services to Ondo State’s security and peace.
In order to maintain security throughout the state, the new police chief urged citizens, traditional leaders, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support and collaborate.
He claimed that when the public gives security organizations timely and helpful information, the police could get better results.
