
Gunmen attacked Rim Village in Plateau State’s Riyom Local Government Area on Tuesday night, killing two people and wounding two more.
Around 10:30 p.m., the attackers allegedly stormed the neighborhood, firing randomly before escaping into surrounding bushes.
According to local sources who talked with Daily Sun, the attackers occasionally opened fire, frightening the villagers.
For immediate medical assistance, the injured individuals were hurried to a local hospital.
Speaking to reporters in Jos, Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, confirmed the attack.
Around ten o’clock at night, gunmen invaded Rim Village and intermittently opened fire. Two individuals were taken to the hospital with injuries, and two people have been declared dead, according to Tengwong.
Residents were shocked and terrified by the incident, he continued.
The attack, according to Tengwong, is just another concerning development in the continuous insecurity that affects Riyom and a number of other towns in Plateau State.
He urged security services to step up patrols and make sure the attackers were caught.
After the attack, locals are reportedly experiencing increased anxiety. In order to stop additional violence in the area, community leaders have persisted in urging security services to act immediately.
