Easter Break Announced by the Federal High Court

The official schedule for the Federal High Court of Nigeria’s 2026 Easter break has been made public.

According to a circular issued by the court’s Chief Judge, John T. Tsoho, Naija News reports that the holiday would start on April 7, 2026, and last through April 13, 2026.

On April 14, 2026, regular court sessions will resume throughout the divisions.

According to the notice, the schedule takes the place of any previous dates that might have been shared about the court’s Easter vacation.

Additionally, it instructed judges, attorneys, and court users to observe the authorized schedule for the holiday.

Certain judicial divisions will continue to handle urgent matters in spite of the break.

During the vacation period, only urgent concerns will be handled.

These include situations pertaining to the arrest or release of vessels, the defense of fundamental rights, and other concerns deemed to have an impact on national interest.

Until the court resumes regular operations following the Easter holiday, all other routine cases will be postponed.

Some judges have been appointed to sit in specific divisions to guarantee that important matters get handled during the vacation.

Cases that come up during the break will be managed by Emeka Nwite and Musa S. Liman in the Abuja division.

The judges in charge of vacation cases in the Lagos division are Ogazi F. Nkemakonam and Akintayo Aluko.

Adamu T. Mohammed and Phoebe M. Ayua have been assigned to handle urgent applications for the Port Harcourt division.

During the Easter vacation, Mabel T. Segun-Bello of the Enugu division will handle issues that need urgent attention.
