Why We Filed a Religious Bill Against Fulani Militias and Kwankwaso US Lawmaker

Representative Riley Moore of the United States has discussed why he and Representative Chris Smith introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026.

According to Naija News, US lawmakers have introduced a new measure to increase responsibility for Nigeria’s violations of human rights.

Potential fines against Fulani militants and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso are included in the law.

Moore stated in a NewsMax interview that the Bill was introduced in order to address the severe persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Moore claims that the law will provide legal support for US President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on those responsible for Christian persecution in Nigeria.

In order to address the severe persecution of Christians in Nigeria, Moore stated, “I introduced the Nigeria Religious Freedom and Accountability Act of 2026 with Rep. Chris Smith.”

The most crucial part of this bill is that it focuses on examining some of the negative actors there, particularly the Fulani, an Islamic tribe that has been terrorizing Christians in Nigeria.

Additionally, the Bill will allow President Donald Trump’s administration to impose sanctions on such persons and then report back to Congress on the matter.

“As you are aware, the President has been actively working to protect Nigerian Christians who are facing persecution on a scale that has never really been witnessed on the African continent with regard to Christians in particular.”
