2027: “Atiku-Igbawua has not been given preference over anyone who has entered ADC”

Chille Igbawua, the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called the persistent denial that the opposition coalition party is a special-purpose vehicle for former vice president Atiku Abubakar in the next general elections false.

According to Naija News, Igbawua made this claim on Monday in response to the defection of former presidential candidates Peter Obi and Rabi’u Kwankwaso during an interview on Channels Television’s “The Morning Brief.”

Remember that Kwankwaso and Peter Obi formally joined the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) on Sunday.

Igbawua stated that no one who has joined ADC has been given preference over him while discussing the developments and problems surrounding the ADC’s presidential ticket.

“I am sufficiently an insider to know if discussions were held, who was deciding who was going to emerge,” he declared. And I’ve stated that the process will be open and transparent in order to determine who will emerge.

“We have amply refuted the claim that Atiku Abubakar uses the ADC as a special-purpose vehicle over the years.

Salisu Tanko Yakasai, a former Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) candidate for governor of Kano in the 2023 elections, has said that President Bola Tinubu will benefit from the coalition’s split in the 2027 election.

In response to Peter Obi and Musa Kwankwaso’s defection to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Yakasai made this claim in a post on his 𝕏 handle.

In the 2027 general election, he cautioned that the creation of the NDC and African Democratic Congress (ADC) might split votes and eventually help the ruling party.

Although many Nigerians had hoped for a unified opposition front, he called the outcome a “blessing in disguise,” contending that a single alliance might have encountered political and legal obstacles that prevented it from being on the ballot.

He said that having two opposition platforms could make it more difficult to ignore them, requiring the government to either permit both parties to take part or face criticism over Nigeria’s

He contended that the presence of two opposition platforms may make it more difficult to ignore them, compelling the government to either permit both parties to take part or face criticism over Nigeria’s democratic credentials.

He feels that it is more possible that both the ADC and NDC will run for president, creating a divided opposition that would benefit Tinubu.
