The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has come under fire from President Bola Tinubu’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Engagement, Fredrick Nwabufo, for his most recent remarks regarding the status of the country.
According to Naija News, Obi promised to bring the nation together if elected president in 2027.
But Nwabufo said that Obi doesn’t comprehend governance in a statement he signed.
He claimed that the NDC flag bearer had no plans for Nigeria and called Obi’s remarks a “mouthful of sentimental nothings.”
“Peter Obi’s interview shows him again to be vacant of deep thought, understanding of governance, and taken up by syrupy rhetoric,” the presidential aide stated. Beyond a mouthful of emotional platitudes, he still lacks a plan, an alternative, and a policy platform.
“Obi’s claim: He said he would bring Nigeria together, but he didn’t go beyond the cliché that his chefs and ADC are from the north.
His words, deeds, and those of his supporters have only made the divide wider.
First, equal citizenship, economic integration, and inclusive governance are the mechanisms of national cohesion and unity.
In essence, the economy and government are the balancing factors of national cohesion. We cannot talk about “national unity” without taking into account the tools of leadership and the tangible advantages of governance.
Therefore, ensuring that public resources are provided to all citizens, regardless of their faith, ethnicity, or social status, and that the government is equitable and just to all, is essential to strengthening national unity.
This is the area in which President Tinubu’s administration has excelled. The administration has made sure that the six geopolitical zones receive equal benefits from its programs, initiatives, and projects—as well as all the accruals of governance—by implementing the mechanics of national cohesion.
In terms of national soldering, President Tinubu has also pushed the scales in favor of inclusive administration.
