Bayern Munich is fined by UEFA for the Champions League incident.

After photographers were hurt when fans spilled over barriers during Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarterfinal victory over Real Madrid, the team escaped a supporter lockout but was fined heavily by UEFA.

The event occurred at the Allianz Arena earlier this month when Bayern scored twice in the last seconds of the second leg to secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League semifinals.

Following the thrilling conclusion, fans from the club’s ultras section raced across the outer area and scaled pitch-side fences to celebrate, trampling multiple photographers.

One photographer had a head cut, and another had a concussion. After the mayhem, a number of others needed medical attention.

Bayern will pay a total penalties of 89,625 euros, according to UEFA. 40,000 euros for disruptive spectators, 30,000 euros for a UEFA-critical fan banner, 14,000 euros for obstructed aisles, and 5,625 euros for object throwing are all included in the penalty.

For the second leg of their semi-final matchup with Paris Saint-Germain, the German champions faced the possibility of a partial stadium shutdown; nevertheless, this punishment fell short of a supporter ban.

Before the decision, sporting director Christoph Freund had stated that he was confident the game would still be played in front of a full audience.

Freund stated, “We hope to be able to celebrate a football festival with a full stadium against Paris.”
