Ahead to the 2027 general elections, Pat Utomi, the Deputy Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Manifesto and Policy Committee, has said that hidden hands are attempting to undermine opposition parties.
According to Naija News, Utomi said this on Tuesday in an interview on the “Prime Time” show on ARISE Television.
According to Utomi, a professor of political economy, there will be good, terrible, and ugly aspects to every political party, including willing instruments that external powers can employ.
Utomi cautioned that certain politicians’ views were undermining public trust while urging immediate action to save the nation.
“There are some unseen hands trying to disrupt the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Labour Party, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” he declared.
“This longitudinal data consistently shows that although Africans want democracy, those gaining power in the continent are preventing it from actually happening, and the people are losing faith in democracy.” We have to protect our nation from that.
On Tuesday, Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the ADC, gave an explanation for the party’s loss in the Federal Capital Territory area council and Anambra State governorship elections.
According to Naija News, Aregbesola gave a speech at the party’s current national convention.
The former Osun State governor acknowledged that the party lost the elections for a number of reasons.
“Our party participated in the 2025 Anambra State and the February 26 FCT local government election,” stated Aregbesola.
