The Accord Party withdraws from the Abia governorship race and backs Otti.

The Accord Party (A) national leadership has declared that it will not run a candidate for governor of Abia State in the 2027 elections.

According to Naija News, the party also instructed its state executive and members to support Governor Alex Otti’s reelection.

Prof. Christopher Imumolen, the party’s national chairman, and Mukhtar Abdullah Djungo, its national secretary, made the announcement on Wednesday while visiting Otti at his rural residence in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area.

According to Imumolen, Otti’s performance in government led the party to decide to back him.

According to him, opposition parties ought to exist not just to criticize the administration but also to recognize instances of exemplary governance.

He said that Otti had gained the backing of the national leadership of the Accord Party due to his accomplishments in Abia State.

Speaking on the party’s behalf, Djungo gave the governor the assurance that Accord will not field a rival in 2027.

“On behalf of our party, I want to assure your Excellency that no candidate from our party will be running for the governorship position in Abia State,” he declared.

The National Working Committee has instructed the party’s State Executive to collaborate with the Labour Party and advance the interests of the Abia State populace. Let’s keep up the wonderful work.

In response, Otti expressed gratitude to the National Working Committee and national leadership of the Accord Party for their understanding and support.

He declared that his administration would keep collaborating with individuals and organizations dedicated to the security and well-being of Abia’s citizens.
