Kwankwaso denies collaborating with Peter Obi to divide the opposition.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Nigeria Democratic Congress’s (NDC) vice presidential candidate, has denied claims that he and Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, are working covertly to support President Bola Tinubu’s reelection.

According to Naija News, Kwankwaso denied allegations that the NDC ticket was intended to split the opposition and help the ruling party.

In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, he made this claim.

Kwankwaso responded to the accusation by citing a Hausa proverb and claiming that those who opposed the Obi-Kwankwaso partnership were being naughty.

He stated, “The person listening should be wise if the person speaking is a fool.”

He stressed that the NDC was not working for any political rival and was instead concentrated on national development.

Despite being a relatively new political platform, Kwankwaso claimed that the NDC had experienced remarkable development in a brief amount of time.

Despite being a new party, our membership is growing quickly. We have drawn a large number of members in less than three months. He stated, “Peter Obi and I have similar goals for human capital development, agriculture, and education.

He clarified that their common aim for constructive change in Nigeria was the reason he and Obi decided to collaborate.

He claims that the goal of their collaboration is to offer a reliable substitute that is centered on growth and welfare.

“I never asked supporters to criticize Atiku.”

Reports of conflict between his supporters and those of other opposition politicians, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, were also denied by the former governor of Kano State.

He claimed that mischievous people were inciting any animosity between the two groups.

“I have never personally criticized Atiku or instructed my supporters to do so. He won’t order his people to attack us, I’m sure of that. “A few mischievous people are inciting any issues between the two camps,” he said.

Kwankwaso also responded to criticism on his earlier statement that the vice president’s office is only a “spare part.”

He claimed that Obi had promised to give the vice president significant responsibility under his administration.

“Obi himself stated in public that he would not simply ignore us. We will undertake a number of duties for the benefit of the country, and that is how it ought to be,” he stated.

“South Should Finish Its Turn”
Kwankwaso gave an explanation for his acceptance of the vice presidential position, citing the nation’s power-sharing structure between the North and the South.

Since it is currently the South’s time, I consented to serve as vice president. We decided that he should run in order to prevent misunderstanding, and the seat will return to the North after they are finished,” he stated.

Kwankwaso voiced trust in the NDC presidential candidate when asked if he thought Obi would uphold an alleged pledge to serve just one term before power returned to the North.

He said, “I think Peter Obi, as a distinguished gentleman, will keep his word and run for a single term to fulfill the turn of the South, and the presidency will move back to the North.”
