
Desmond Olushola Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly who represents Surulere Constituency I, has announced that he plans to run for reelection in the upcoming legislative election.
Elliot stated that he had received the nomination paperwork to run for a second term in a post on his Facebook page on Sunday.
The former Nollywood actor who is now a politician stated that his decision was motivated by his dedication to public service and his wish to expand on the progress already made in Surulere Constituency I.
Elliot claimed that he would be in a better position to bring more advantages to his constituency if he returned to the Lagos Assembly.
He claims that if he were to serve another term, Surulere Constituency I would have more influence on legislative and developmental issues as a ranking member of the Assembly.
“My return automatically makes me a ranking member and loads of benefits come to our constituency as a result of this feat,” he said.
The lawmaker stated that he is still committed to making sure Surulere residents continue to have excellent representation and noticeable progress.
Elliot thanked ward executives, community leaders, youth organizations, women’s organizations, party officials, and other stakeholders for their ongoing support.
He said that their support was crucial to his political career and record of public service.
The senator claimed that the Surulere residents’ faith in him had made him more determined to serve the constituency.
Additionally, the Lagos congressman urged his followers to maintain composure, unity, and concentration throughout the election process.
He stated that as the constituency gets ready for another election, harmony and respect for one another would be crucial.
“Our strength has always been in our togetherness, and I am confident that same spirit will guide us again,” Elliot continued.
The lawmaker reiterated that Surulere Constituency I’s ongoing development and Lagos State’s overall expansion remained his top priorities.
He declared that he would continue to back laws and programs meant to enhance citizens’ quality of life and bolster state government.
Elliot has served as the Lagos State House of Assembly’s representative for Surulere Constituency I since 2015, according to Naija News.
