Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, will never be able to rejoin the party, according to factional National Vice Chairman (South-West) Abayomi Arabambi.
Arabambi went on to say that although the party’s leaders have already decided not to let him return, the Nenadi Usman-led section may attempt to do so.
According to Naija News, he revealed the information on Thursday when speaking with News Central on the impending general elections in 2027.
Arabambi said, “Nenadi will try, but Obi can never return to the Labour Party.”
He claims that the decision was made in response to the party’s internal conflict and discussions with important individuals, such as Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, and the leadership led by Julius Abure.
He revealed that the Labour Party has also decided to back President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
“We have all decided that we will support Mr. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term and ambition because of the intractable crisis,” Arabambi said.
Arabambi advised her to stop thinking about Usman opening the door for Obi’s return.
He declared, “She should perish that thought… that Peter Obi will return to the Labour Party.”
The internal problems that shook the Labour Party during the 2023 election were also attributed by Arabambi to Peter Obi and his allies.
“That election was ruined by them. Tinubu did not cause us to lose 4.7 million votes from 53,000 polling places where the agents were not fed, he claimed.
He confirmed that Obi will not be returning to the party in order to fulfill his dream of becoming president.
Arabambi declared, “Once beaten, twice shy. We won’t be defeated again.”
He made it clear that the party would back President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.
He declared, “We are all going to work for President Tinubu’s emergence for another four years.”
