Umar Ardo, a supporter of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), has stated that the original intention should not be halted by the withdrawal of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi from the committee established to handle ADA’s registration.
According to Naija News, Ardo stated that Amaechi led the committee established to handle ADA’s registration while Atiku nominated a representative to serve on the group on Wednesday while answering questions on Arise Television’s “The Morning Show.”
Ardo asserted that he came up with the idea to register the ADA and that he vigorously promoted it inside the opposition coalition. However, as members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition lost interest in the new party, things changed.
He claims that after the committee approved the concept and filed an application to register the ADA with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Amaechi departed to join the ADC after expressing interest in running for president on its platform.
Ardo pointed out that the ADA promoters replaced the impacted committee members and resubmitted the required paperwork in spite of Atiku and Amaechi’s resignation.
“Who were those in it?” he asked. One of Rotimi Amaechi’s men was nominated for chairman. Atiku, the former vice president, then proposed one of his individuals to be our committee’s secretary. Rotimi Amaechi was the committee’s chairman, and I served as its secretary. After coming to an agreement, we moved in and submitted the application.
“And I want you to know that I came up with the idea for the ADA’s registration, and I really pushed it to the coalition.
Amaechi moved in after the coalition declared they were no longer interested in it. The chairman proceeded to register for ADC in his hometown of Cross River State after I told him he would run for president. Subsequently, the Secretary was appointed as a deputy national chairman (North Central-Diaspora) in addition to being transferred to the ADC.
Therefore, the ADA registration shouldn’t be terminated just because these individuals have moved out. We convened in a hurry, made a substitution, and then submitted.
“They said they were going, but now they’ve returned and said they want to rejoin the ADA in order to prevent the court from making an early ruling.”
