Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and minister of transportation, revealed that his defeat in the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary had a profound impact on his faith and personal life.
According to Naija News, he stated in an interview with Arise TV that the loss to President Bola Tinubu affected him both politically and spiritually.
Amaechi clarified that following the primary election, he was more concerned with the state of the nation than with his own disappointment.
He claimed that the suffering endured by Nigerians disturbed him and made him wonder why it persisted despite widespread prayers. He claimed that his regular prayer life was impacted by this internal conflict.
He acknowledged that during that time, he ceased going to his spiritual guide’s regular prayer meetings.
The former governor claimed that his worries about Nigeria caused him to withdraw and think carefully about the situation, which caused a gap in his spiritual practice.
“God, do you really think that Nigerians should continue to suffer?” I started to implore God. After that, it somewhat damaged my faith, and I stopped praying. Amaechi remarked.
The former governor of Rivers further revealed that after detecting his absence, his spiritual guide contacted him. His misgivings about prayer and worries about the country were addressed throughout their conversation, and he was encouraged to have faith and accept things that are beyond human control.
