Wike Discusses His Choice for the 2027 Rivers Governorship

Before the 2027 Rivers State governorship election, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has denied rumors that he will support a chosen candidate.

Prior to the 2027 election, Siminalayi Fubara, the current governor of Rivers State, has been the subject of worries, according to Naija News.

Online rumors also surfaced that Wike supported Alabo Dakorinama George Kelly, a former State Commissioner for Works, as his favored candidate for governor of Rivers State.

Following a private meeting with important political figures in Port Harcourt on Monday, it was reported that Wike had agreed to George.

However, Wike stated he has not supported any candidate for the Rivers state governorship election in 2027 at his monthly media appearance in Abuja on Wednesday.

The Minister claims that the endorsement will only occur following a joint coalition meeting at the state level.

“I haven’t endorsed anybody,” he declared. And until the unified coalition convenes, I am unable to recommend anyone.

In the meantime, Wike has been accused by Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of influencing the choice of candidates for governorship in Rivers State for both the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

George called the event concerning and cautioned that, if left unchecked, it might destabilize the PDP and the political climate of the nation.

The PDP leader was interviewed on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Wednesday.

George voiced worry about the PDP’s ongoing problem, calling it unprecedented.

He chastised certain party members for allegedly disobeying the party’s policies and procedures, especially those in Wike’s section.
