Nyesom Wike, the FCT’s minister, claims that throughout the past two and a half years, the FCT has seen significant improvement under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.
“A lot has changed in terms of the provision of infrastructure,” Wike said following his Tuesday inspection of various ongoing projects in Abuja.
He described 2026 as a golden jubilee year for the nation’s capital and said the Tinubu administration had done quite well in the FCT’s 50th anniversary.
“Keeping in mind our starting point, I believe Mr. President has altered Abuja’s terrain over his two and upcoming three years in office.
Additionally, we are adhering to the Abuja Master Plan. In terms of infrastructure, I believe we have done a great job to God’s honor,” he remarked.
The minister, speaking about the projects under inspection, was pleased with the speed and caliber of the current road work in Gishiri, which he stated would be opened to commemorate Tinubu’s third year in office.
The continued dualization of the Outer Southern Expressway from Ring Road I to Ring Road II was also praised by Wike.
As you can see, the bridges’ construction is proceeding smoothly. Excellent work.
“The purpose of our visit is to observe the informal sector’s road network, where the Apo dealers will be relocated. The contractor managing the three projects, CGC, has really pleased me.
“The OSEX area will be inaugurated as part of Tinubu’s third anniversary, even though this project will be finished in August,” he stated.
The minister claimed there was no winner or loser in response to the ceasefire negotiated with FCT workers, which caused labor unions to postpone their planned protest on Tuesday.
He expressed his happiness that the union officials had been able to dispel myths by witnessing the facts on the ground.
“I’m glad the labor congress and trade union came to observe things for themselves. It can be beneficial at times. What is actually happening on the ground differs from what they were told.
Overall, though, the meeting went well, and you can see that the employees were instructed to return to work.
We are therefore pleased that there is no winner or loser at the conclusion of the day. It’s for Abuja’s benefit to advance,” he stated.
