“Tinubu Messed Up,” said Adebayo, a former presidential candidate.

President Bola Tinubu is not a fearless statesman, according to Adewole Adebayo, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate.

According to Adebayo, Tinubu mishandled the chance to sign electoral acts.

According to Naija News, Adebayo made the comment when questioned about political party primaries, particularly the consensus or direct primary, in an interview with Daily Post.

“My point is that President Tinubu is not a bold statesman,” he declared. He mishandled the chance to sign electoral acts that were presented to him. However, a single individual abusing their position of authority cannot cause democracy to collapse or flourish. Politicians, despite our complaints about the act’s flaws, we must keep in mind that colonial control existed once. After elections, we gained independence. During a period of military rule, elections were held, and Abiola emerged victorious.

Citing the political philosophies of the party’s members, Adebayo also rejected efforts to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in order to oppose the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

The SDP chieftain claims that the ADC is a branch of the APC and emphasizes that some of them are upset because they are now not given preference.

“What I care about is that whatever position I take in politics would align with where the people of Nigeria want to go, align with the Nigerian constitution, align with the objectives of our founding fathers and where they think the country should be at this point in time,” he stated.

Since I have been a member of the SDP since 1991 and I have no intention of leaving, it is not my place to comment on the decision of 36 governors to join one party. That’s fine with me. Since I was nineteen, I have been here. They change with the seasons and are more mobile. They are accountable for that. I’m not concerned with their political style. If you are upset with governors switching to the APC, for instance, why do you rejoice when certain members of the national assembly switch to your side? I do not believe in this kind of hypocrisy.

What matters to me is the quality of these individuals who are relocating. Do they move along with the people? All of them have very low ratings. None of the issues are being resolved by them. There are no states in Nigeria that are safe, secure, have good employment and accountability records, or do not have some sort of corruption problem. There isn’t a single element that these unsuccessful incumbents have in common because no state is managing its affairs effectively. I don’t mind if they are all moving to one side.

First of all, we do not have a legislative form of government, which makes it difficult to identify the primary opposition. I shouldn’t be bothered by the ADC’s decision to imitate. The APC is courting and welcoming governors into their ranks, and the ADC, perhaps because many of them are descended from the APC, believed that this was the best way to be powerful. They also began seeking out all types of people, regardless of whether they shared their beliefs. That is not a concern for us.

“We have always maintained in the SDP that ADC is a branch of the APC and APC is a scion of the PDP, and that is still the politics of incumbency.” All of them are identical. The ADC employees are attempting to go ahead of the line because some of them have already completed their turn and are currently not being given preference in this rotational inefficiency and failure. They are in a relay of failure, passing the baton from one failing administration to the next. They are attempting to reorganize themselves.
