Sani criticizes the ban on weapons for Amotekun and local guards, saying, “You’re Only Sending Them To Death Sentence.”

Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna State, has criticized the limitations on live weapons for Amotekun and vigilante services, maintaining that the establishment of State police is still the best way to combat insecurity in Nigeria.

According to Naija News, Sani stated that the Amotekun and local guards are just sent out on a death sentence in the absence of live weapons during a Tuesday night appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time.

In comparison to international best practices, Sani pointed out that Nigeria’s military and police were understaffed.

“I don’t think that anyone has come up with solutions to how we can address the issue of insecurity in Nigeria,” he stated. I’ve spoken with a lot of people in interviews, but no one has figured out the answer.

“You understand why? The establishment of state police is the only way to solve the problem. Every state governor in Nigeria has made the decision to implement watchful services, some in the south, but do you know why they aren’t working? The reason for this is because many visitors have not thoroughly examined the Nigerian Farm Act.

Because it forbids the use of live weapons by the vigilant services, Amotekun’s vigilant services are only sentenced to death because they are ineffective.

Why do I back the state police? In a nation of 230 million people, there is less protection on the ground—fewer than 400,000 police officers and less than 250,000 military soldiers. We have fallen short of the 450 to one security staff ratio, which is the best level in the world.

“You may travel from point A to point B in Nigeria without seeing any security forces in the North because we have a lot of ungoverned areas here.

“Why are we different in Nigeria and when are we not practicing true federalism? I can’t think of any country that has done so without state police.”
