Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared that if former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is harmed while in detention, President Bola Tinubu and his administration will be held accountable.
According to Naija News, Abdullahi made this claim in a Symfoni TV interview.
According to Abdullahi, El-Rufai’s detention is intended to prevent him from running in the 2027 election and to bolster the opposition rather than to address the law, justice, or criminal activity.
The leader of the ADC recalled how El-Rufai helped guarantee Tinubu’s election as president, particularly at a time when none of the late former president Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet supported him.
“President Bola Tinubu and his administration will bear full responsibility if anything happens to El-Rufai while he remains in state custody,” he declared.
El-Rufai is not being detained today because he did not commit any crimes. The court would have had to make that determination. Let the court decide whether or not he is guilty.
It is evident to us that the APC government’s goal is to keep El-Rufai detained in order to prevent him from running for office and to bolster the opposition. However, holding him indefinitely speaks to something more. They intend to accomplish just that.
“When everyone in Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet opposed President Bola Tinubu, this same El-Rufai stood up for him.”
