Malami and Son’s case has been postponed until March 10.

The terrorist trial of former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami and his son Abdulaziz has been postponed by the Federal High Court in Abuja until March 10, 2026.

According to Naija News, Rotimi Oyedepo, the Federation’s Director of Public Prosecutions, asked for further time to examine the case files.

The Department of Public Prosecutions recently took over the case from the Department of State Services, and it took some time for the prosecution to become acquainted with the specifics.

The defendants’ attorneys did not object to the motion, but they argued that if the prosecution does not begin the trial on the revised date, the case should be dismissed due to what they called “slow progress.”

The prosecution was told to start presenting its case on March 10 by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who also granted the adjournment.

While the court waits for the prosecution to present its evidence, the trial is anticipated to proceed on the next date.

Earlier this year, Mr. Malami and his son were accused of supporting terrorism and possessing firearms illegally by the Department of State Services (DSS).

A portion of the claims, according to the prosecution, are related to Malami’s conduct as attorney general, particularly with regard to how specific cases were handled during that time.

In those terrorism-related counts, the court granted them bail of ₦200 million apiece, subject to stringent requirements, such as supplying sureties with property in Abuja.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned Malami, his wife, and his son on a 16-count money laundering charge connected to billions of naira in alleged illicit funds, separate from the terrorism accusation.

Each of them has entered a not guilty plea to those charges.
