A fully laden fuel tanker toppled and started fire late Wednesday night along the Abeokuta Motorway toward Agege, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
On Thursday in Lagos, LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the event to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
“While residual product burning in the drainage is being addressed,” he said, the fire was promptly contained.
On Wednesday evening, a tanker fire on the Abeokuta Motorway inbound to Agege was extinguished by LASEMA authorities and affiliated organizations.
There were no fatalities, he said. “One male is undergoing treatment after suffering burn injuries.”
Despite the damage to the tanker, Oke-Osanyintolu revealed that the fire did not spread to nearby buildings.
He stated, “LASEMA is working with the Fire Service, Police, and LASTMA to coordinate a multi-agency response.” (NAN)
