43 employees have been dismissed from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) due to misconduct including patrols, scandalous behavior, and offenses that border on desertion.
Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Corps Public Education Officer and Assistant Corps Marshal, issued a press release on Thursday stating that the impacted officers include 31 officers who were terminated for desertion, five for scandalous behavior, and seven for misconduct linked to patrol.
The Corps stated that as the FRSC badge is a mark of honor and accountability, the action sends a clear message and that any officer who chooses to disregard the institution’s norms will be subject to the full force of the Corps’ disciplinary apparatus.
“The decision is a bold reaffirmation of the Corps’ zero tolerance stance against indiscipline and ethical violations,” said Shehu Mohammed, Corps Marshal, FRSC.

He emphasized that the Corps is still a paramilitary, professional organization that operates under stringent guidelines and would not tolerate any conduct that jeopardizes institutional integrity, public confidence, or the Corps’ goals.
Desertion, according to Mohammed, is a serious violation of the service oath and operational duty, especially in a safety-critical organization tasked with defending the lives of millions of road users every day.
Additionally, he pointed out that scandalous behavior and patrol misbehavior undermine public trust and go counter to the Corps’ core ideals of discipline, openness, and service excellence.
While urging the driving public to maintain faith in the Corps and support its mission of safer roads, FRSC reassured Nigerians that it will step up internal monitoring, fortify supervisory structures, and encourage ethical reorientation across all commands nationwide.
