Governor Buni: “I will never betray my predecessor.”

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni has stated that while fulfilling his duties, he will never violate the confidence of the state’s citizens and his predecessor, former Governor Ibrahim Gaidam.

In order to strengthen internal unity ahead of the party’s next national convention, the governor made the announcement on Tuesday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) congress in Yobe State, which was held in a calm environment.

In order to consolidate the results of the previous ward and local government congresses, party delegates and stakeholders from throughout the state convened at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Damaturu.

Governor Mai Mala Buni thanked party members for their cooperation, dedication, and maturity during the congress process when speaking to party supporters shortly after the exercise.

Governor Buni charged the newly elected State Executive Committee (EXCO) with upholding the values of loyalty, unity, and devotion to the party and the state by declaring, “I will never betray the trust of my predecessor and the people of Yobe State.”

He emphasized that unity continues to be the party’s greatest strength as it gets ready for the national convention, which is set for March 27–28, 2026, in Abuja, and hailed the congress’s peaceful conduct as a manifestation of the strong internal democracy and cohesion within the APC in Yobe.

The congress, according to Governor Buni, was a part of continuous initiatives to fortify the party’s internal organization and set it up for greater success at the state and federal levels.

Additionally, he emphasized the accomplishments of his administration in the areas of education, healthcare delivery, agriculture, infrastructure development, and the empowerment of women and youth. He attributed these victories to the combined efforts of party members and the general public.

The APC State Electoral Committee Chairman, Engineer Dr. Muttaka Rabe Darma, stated that the new executive members were chosen by consensus during his speech announcing the results. He clarified that the delegates overwhelmingly supported the consensus solution, which was chosen following lengthy talks.

Alhaji Muhammad Gadaka, the recently re-elected State Chairman of the APC, thanked delegates and party members for their trust in him during a vote of appreciation. He promised to run the party’s business with an inclusive leadership approach that would involve every member.

Usman Adamu Kabarma, the governor’s special adviser on political and legislative matters, earlier praised Governor Buni for his deliberate leadership that has bolstered the APC at all state levels.

As the APC continues to solidify its institutions and get ready for the national convention, the peaceful congress highlights the party’s increasing stability and unity in Yobe State.

“Those elected are Alhaji Muhammad Gadaka as Chairman, Alhaji Alamai Baba Kankare Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Abbani Gambo, Secretary, Barrister Ali Mohammed, Legal Adviser, and Ali Alhaji Maidugu as Organizing Secretary,” stated Yusuf Ali, Focal Person Digital and Strategic Communications to the Governor.

Sa’idu A. Baba, Treasurer Umar A. Yawudima, Financial Secretary Mohammed Musa Gulani, Youth Leader Alhaji Ibrahim Daushe, Publicity Secretary, and Alhaji Babangida Jajere Auditor are among the others.

“Baba Umar Damaturu, Zone A Vice Chairman; Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa, Zone B; Adamu Lamido, Zone C; Alhaji Bukar Welfare Secretary; Budu Lawan, Women Leader; and Alhaji Usman Bura Gabai, who represents individuals with special needs.”
