Atiku Says of Meeting El-Rufai Over Arrest Attempt: “He Was Unfazed”

Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of Nigeria and leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), revealed that former governor Nasir El-Rufai is still in a positive frame of mind despite security personnel’s unsuccessful effort to arrest him at the airport on Thursday.

In a message posted on Facebook on Friday, Atiku acknowledged that he had met with the former governor of Kaduna State and that the experience had not affected him.

He went on to say that El-Rufai, an ADC chieftain, is still dedicated to the goals of creating a better Nigeria.

Following the unsuccessful effort to arrest Mallam Nasir El-Rufai at the airport upon his arrival in the nation, I paid him a solidarity visit last night. El-Rufai is a stalwart of the African Democratic Congress and the former governor of Kaduna State. Atiku wrote in a statement that he personally signed, “He was unfazed by the incident and remains committed to the battle to enthrone a better Nigeria.”

There was drama at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday when security personnel attempted to arrest the former governor without a warrant, according to Naija News.

However, El-Rufai fought their actions, stating that he would not consent to being taken into custody without a valid invitation letter or arrest order.
