Ahead of the 2027 elections, Farouk Aliyu, the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the party has a system in place to handle complaints that might come up from its candidate selection procedure.
According to Naija News, Aliyu said this on Monday during an appearance on the Morning Show on Arise Television.
Aliyu asked disgruntled members to stick with the party even though he acknowledged that some candidates would be disappointed following the primaries and consensus agreements.
Aliyu claimed that following the primaries, the APC leaders would interact with and placate disgruntled candidates through discussions, pledges, and potential appointments.
In situations where a consensus could not be achieved, he continued, the party will hold direct primaries.
“There will undoubtedly be broken hearts,” he stated. You will undoubtedly have aspirations. You will most likely experience heartbreak if you don’t understand.
However, if you are a real party guy, you should go for candidate ‘A’ if that’s what the party leaders generally think. Go for the election if you don’t want to go for that.
Indeed, there are some locations where promises were made, but politics is ever-changing. It’s one thing today and another tomorrow.
Therefore, in situations where someone is guaranteed a ticket—including the governor—you will ultimately discover that even the governor is limited in what he can accomplish because other interests in the state are more significant than the governor.
When our party’s wise leaders have made a decision, let’s reach a consensus. Direct primaries are used when there is no agreement.
We are ready, I’m telling you. We’re prepared. Naturally, we will make an effort to soothe wounded hearts by kind words, assurances, appointments, and other means. The party has a system in place to try to placate people whose hearts will be shattered.
