An explosion rocks a church in New York, injuring seven people.

Following an explosion that seriously damaged a church in upstate New York, seven people have reportedly been injured.

A firefighter was inside the church on Tuesday when the explosion happened, according to a statement released by the New York State Police on Wednesday, which Naija News obtained.

The statement claims that the Abundant Life Fellowship Church in Boonville, Oneida County, has a gas odor.

Five additional injured individuals have been sent to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to the police, while the fireman and a citizen suffered critical injuries.

However, police reported that the explosion showed no indications of criminal activity.

Meanwhile, a suspected IED exploded at the Bayelsa State Secretariat Complex in Yenagoa, causing fear and prompting a quick security response.

Official operations were interrupted by the explosion, which happened at around 6:00 am, as security personnel arrived to protect the area and evaluate the incident.

The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah, confirmed the development in a statement provided to reporters, stating that no one was killed and no property was harmed.

The Bayelsa State Police Command would want to alert the public to a possible IED explosion that happened inside the State Secretariat Complex today, February 11, 2026, at around 6:00 a.m. “I led the Special Drone Unit, Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit, and other tactical teams to the scene right away,” he stated.

“The Explosive Ordinance Unit’s personnel quickly contained the explosion after arriving on the scene.”
