Nollywood actress Olayode Juliana, better known by her stage as Toyo Baby, has denied reports that she and Funke Akindele had a misunderstanding, making it apparent that they are not at odds.
Olayode said in an interview with BBC Pidgin that she likes and appreciates Funke very much.
“Funke Akindele is someone I truly love and respect,” she remarked. I admire her, you know. She is a wonderful person.
According to Naija News, she went on to say that their bond is similar to that of a mother and kid in the business. So, Funke Akindele and I are like mother to child, like a mother figure in the industry. No lele, no yawa, nothing at all. Nothing at all!
The actress also talked about why she doesn’t kiss in movies, saying that it’s a personal decision that stems from her values.
She declared that she would not take on parts that required her to make on-screen kisses. “Maybe they cast me with my husband before you go see me where I go kiss for a movie.” That is, if I get married to an actor, which is not what I want to do,” she stated.
She said that criticism used to have a significant impact on her when she first started working in the field. “I used to cry and say, ‘Oh, I’m not like this,’ if anyone talked about me when I first started in this industry,” she recalled.
She did, however, add that she has become more resilient over time.
She went on to say that she no longer pays attention to unfounded criticism, saying, “Until you see me for real, hold my shirt or slap my face, by that time, I’ll know you’re dragging me.”
Regarding her position on purity, the actress stated that a lot of people only consider sexual issues. “I personally think that God doesn’t call all of us to live a life of purity,” she stated.
