Mr. Ibu’s family requests assistance after his children drop out of school.

The family of the late Nollywood comedian and actor John Ikechukwu Okafor, better known by his stage as Mr. Ibu, has requested assistance due to what they have termed as difficulties since his passing.

According to Naija News, the family had a conversation when content creator King Mitchy paid them a visit.

The family claims that due to unpaid payments, Mr. Ibu’s two sons and only daughter have left school.

The mother of the children added that they had been without running water and electricity for weeks due to their inability to pay the bills.

“I haven’t paid the house rent, so we got water from the well.” For the past two months, they have even turned off my lights. Since then, there is no light. That’s how we’ve been every night. We search for places to charge our phones, but it’s difficult,” she remarked.

The daughter of Mr. Ibu made an appeal to Nigerians and the entertainment business colleagues of her late father to help the family.

“I want to give thanks to God for my mother, who did everything in her power to provide for us, pay for our education, and make us happy.

“So, Nigerians, come meet us if you were in the industry with my dad and you’re seeing us now,” she begged.

The mother of the children also revealed that she had received a mail from the school regarding the children’s unpaid payments.

Following an infection that apparently necessitated multiple surgery, Okafor had his leg amputated in November 2023.

He suffered a heart arrest and passed away in Lagos on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62.
