•varo Arbeloa has been officially appointed as Fulham F.C.’s next head coach for a period of three years.
The 43-year-old Álvaro Arbeloa has agreed to a contract that will keep him at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2029. Silva resigned after five years in command to return to Portugal and take over S.L. Benfica.
Arbeloa, who advanced through the club’s youth coaching ranks before taking over the first squad during the second half of the 2025–2026 season, joins after a brief stint leading Real Madrid CF’s senior team. José Mourinho eventually succeeded him.
TalkSPORT reported that during talks for the managerial position, Mourinho personally suggested Arbeloa to Fulham owner Shahid Khan.
“It is a real honour for me to be embarking on this new stage at Fulham FC, the oldest club in London,” Arbeloa remarked following his hiring. I am really appreciative of Mr. Khan and Tony Khan for their faith in me with Fulham in the Premier League, and I feel a strong sense of duty.
“I am really excited to start preseason with the players next week and take in the atmosphere at Craven Cottage with Fulham supporters.”

Arbeloa, who previously played for Liverpool F.C. for two and a half seasons from 2007 to 2009, is returning to the Premier League with this appointment.
During his illustrious playing career, Arbeloa made 237 games for Real Madrid, helping the team win two Copa del Rey trophies, one La Liga title, and two UEFA Champions League titles.
He received 56 caps for the Spanish national football team on the international scene and was a member of the squad that won the UEFA European Championship in 2008 and 2012 as well as the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
