Todd Boehly is under increasing pressure as Chelsea supporters organize protests following Forest’s defeat.

After a season that has fallen short of expectations, Chelsea FC supporters are becoming increasingly frustrated, which is putting pressure on Todd Boehly.

The 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest on Monday essentially put an end to the team’s chances of meeting the minimal goal of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League. Instead, despite significant investment since the takeover, the team now confronts the possibility of placing outside of the top five.

According to BBC Sport, the outcome has increased discontent among supporters, many of whom are dissatisfied with ownership company BlueCo, which is led by Boehly and includes main investors Clearlake Capital. Before the FA Cup final versus Manchester City, protests are being planned; more protests are scheduled for the season’s last home game.

Supporters point to a lack of direction and frequent changes in management. The long-term project is now much more uncertain due to the search for a new permanent head coach after Liam Rosenior was fired.

The club’s £262 million pre-tax loss has also raised financial concerns, and continued UEFA oversight as part of a settlement agreement has raised spending scrutiny.

Not A Project CFC, a supporter group, claims that the club’s identity is being lost due to what they perceive to be an excessively experimental approach. Relationships have become even more tense due to ticketing regulations and perceptions of insufficient effort on the field.

A cup final victory would provide Chelsea a temporary boost, but many fans now want stability, openness, and a clear strategy to make Chelsea competitive again. The club’s future and its relationship with its supporters are anticipated to be shaped in the upcoming months.
