Taking Nottingham Forest role was a “bad decision,” Postecoglou acknowledges.

Ange Postecoglou has acknowledged that he made “a bad decision” in accepting the position with the Premier League underdogs, and he has only himself to blame for his incredibly short tenure as Nottingham Forest manager.

In September, 60-year-old Postecoglou was named Nuno Espirito Santo’s successor.

However, just 39 days after the seasoned manager lost six of his eight games in charge, notoriously impatient Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis fired Postecoglou.

In an analysis of his time at Forest for the Overlap podcast, Postecoglou said that his problems at the City Ground stemmed from his excessive desire to return to management following his departure from Tottenham Hotspur three months prior.

Postecoglou remarked, “There’s no point in me blaming it on ‘I didn’t get time’ or anything.” “I shouldn’t have entered that place. I was responsible for that. I made a poor choice by going inside. I must be responsible for that.

Following Tottenham, it was too soon. They were kind of accustomed to doing things a certain way when I took over, so it goes without saying that I will do things differently. I have to admit that I made a mistake. Nobody else is to blame.

Even though Postecoglou is still without a team, he has ruled out going back to Celtic, where he had a great two-year period from 2021–2023. Martin O’Neill, 73, is presently the Scottish champions’ interim manager until the end of the current campaign.

After leaving the Glasgow giants to join Spurs, Postecoglou remarked, “I loved Celtic, it’s a wonderful football club.” “I probably would have stayed there longer if I had been younger. I most likely would have spent three or four years there.

“I believe I could have advanced with them in Europe, but it had taken me a while to reach this point, and the chance to join Tottenham was too enticing at the time.

“I don’t go back in terms of going back. That hasn’t really been my career, in my opinion.

“Whatever comes next, it will be something different, somewhere I can contribute, somewhere I can win things, but it doesn’t take away from my love for Celtic.”
