Paul Onuachu Turns Down a Major Saudi Offer to Remain at Trabzonspor

Paul Onuachu, a Nigerian striker, declined a rich offer from Saudi Arabia in favor of staying with Trabzonspor in spite of growing interest in a transfer.

Paul Onuachu, 31, is having an amazing season in Turkey after relocating from Southampton last summer. He is one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe, having scored 23 goals in 27 games.

Before it ended against Eyüpspor last week, Onuachu, who helped Nigeria finish third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), went on a scorching 10-game scoring streak.

The Nigerian international received a sizable offer from a Saudi club, according to reports from NTV Spor.

According to the site, “Onuachu rejected the Saudi club’s offer of a salary four times higher than his current earnings.”

Since then, Trabzonspor has made it clear that the striker is not for sale.

Despite European interest, Trabzonspor has chosen not to sell Onuachu. Trabzonspor will keep the striker with a contract that expires in 2028 and a one-year option, so ending the transfer chapter on him, NTV Spor continued.

In Europe and Asia, interest is still very high. According to Fotomac, Al Ahli, Juventus, and Stade Rennais are keeping a careful eye on his circumstances.

According to Fotomac, “Onuachu is expected to have an active summer transfer window with Juventus, Stade Rennais, and Al Ahli being the clubs to take action for the Nigerian striker.”

Because of his age of 31, he is not seen as a long-term investment, but his physical prowess and scoring assurance provide the clubs with a safe harbor.

Onuachu is now in Antalya with the Nigerian Super Eagles ahead of friendlies against Jordan and Iran, according to Naija News. Later today, March 26, at 2:00 p.m., the match against Iran will begin.
