NFF Establishes Electoral Committees Prior to the September Elections

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will formally begin preparations for its Executive Committee elections, which are scheduled for September 26, 2026, in Lafia, by establishing its Electoral Committee and Electoral Appeals Committee.

NFF president Ibrahim Gusau will preside over the event, which will be held at the federation’s secretariat in Abuja. In accordance with the federation’s statutes, the ceremony marks the beginning of the committees’ duties to plan and oversee the election process.

On March 23, 2026, a special general assembly in Yenagoa approved the 12 individuals nominated to serve on the two committees.

Barr Matthew Burkala, SAN; Hon. Justice Aneke; Emmanuel Obafemi; Babagoni Grema; Barr Benjamin Sak; Mallam Musa; Prof. Abdulmalik Awwal; Arinze Anughere, Esq; Hon. Akogun Omole; Abayomi Omoyimi, Esq; Ayibaye Temedie, Esq; and Ayi Ukpayam are among those appointed.

The Electoral Committee shall consist of three members, two alternates, the chairperson, and the vice chairperson. Five representatives will make up the Electoral Appeals Committee: two alternates and three full members.

According to the NFF Electoral Code, the Electoral Committee is required to oversee the entire electoral process. Its responsibilities include organizing, managing, and supervising the NFF Congress elections, with a focus on openness, equity, and adherence to legal requirements.
