Joan Laporta was re-elected as president of FC Barcelona.

After winning a new five-year term as FC Barcelona’s president, Laporta has promised that the team will be “unstoppable.”

The La Liga team confirmed on Sunday that Joan Laporta, 63, who received slightly more than 68% of the vote in the presidential election, will take office on July 1.

Victor Font, Laporta’s primary opponent, received over thirty percent of the vote; the remaining ballots were ruled null or void.

In accordance with club regulations, Laporta, who began his current term in office in March 2021, resigned last month to run for office once more.

In response to the outcome, he characterized the win as decisive.

We become unstoppable as a result,” he remarked. Nobody is going to stop us. There are exciting years ahead. Our lives will be the finest because of them.

The members of this fantastic club choose their board of directors and president. A club that is absolutely exceptional, unlike any other in the world.

The vote was cast by about 48,500 members, or 42.34% of the total. The 53-year-old Font received 14,385 votes, while Laporta received 32,934.

Between 2003 and 2010, Laporta was the first president of Barcelona. During that time, Pep Guardiola was appointed manager and one of the team’s most prosperous periods began.

Laporta praised members for what he described as a “celebration of democracy and civic spirit” in his victory address. Additionally, he pledged that his new government would keep “defending Barca against everything and everyone.”

He promised to finish renovating Camp Nou and bolster the first team in the future.

Despite severe financial challenges in recent years, Barcelona won a treble last season to regain its domination at home.

At the top of La Liga, the Catalan team is presently four points ahead of rivals Real Madrid. Raphinha, a Brazilian winger, scored three goals in Sunday’s 5-2 triumph over Sevilla FC.

The focus now shifts to Europe, where Barcelona will play Newcastle United in the second leg of their round-of-16 UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday.

Last week, a penalty kick in the 96th minute by teenager Lamine Yamal saved a 1-1 draw in the first leg at St. James’ Park.
