Cape Verde keeps its World Cup record intact by holding Uruguay to a 2-2 tie.

In World Cup Group H on Sunday, Cape Verde rallied to secure a 2-2 draw with Uruguay, maintaining the African archipelago’s incredible undefeated start at the international tournament.

Kevin Pina’s first-ever World Cup goal gave the rookies the lead against the two-time defending champions in Miami. Uruguay responded on the stroke of halftime with goals from Maximiliano Araujo and Agustin Canobbio, but Cape Verdean Helio Varela’s goal just after the hour ensured the spoils were shared in the closely contested pool.
