As the Turkish title battle enters a crucial phase, Nigerian star Victor Osimhen has urged Galatasaray to be focused and motivated ahead of Sunday’s Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe.
The match could essentially decide the championship with four games remaining in the Süper Lig season. Galatasaray is seven points ahead of Trabzonspor and leads Fenerbahçe by four points in the standings.
Osimhen made his comeback in the 2-0 Turkish Cup quarterfinal loss to Gençlerbirliği, according to Naija News, following a 35-day injury layoff. Following the game, the striker was spotted comforting goalkeeper Čay Güvenç, who had been jeered by some fans.
The Nigerian international, who initially joined the team on loan during the 2024–2025 season before becoming a permanent member the following season, has subsequently assumed a significant leadership position in the locker room as derby preparations get underway.
Osimhen stated, “A very important match awaits us,” according to the Turkish sports daily Fanatik. I’m looking forward to it just like everyone else. This is not the moment to be angry.
“We need to be well-prepared for this crucial championship match.”
With 19 goals and seven assists in 30 games in all competitions, Osimhen has been crucial to Galatasaray’s title challenge this season.
