PDP Begins National Assembly, Gubernatorial, and Presidential Screenings (Photos)

On Tuesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) started evaluating candidates nationally for the general elections of 2027.

According to Naija News, those hoping to run for president, governorship, and legislative office are among those being screened.

The PDP confirmed in a statement that the high-profile screening of candidates for president and governor is happening at the national level in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while the screening of senatorial, federal, and state legislative candidates is underway across designated centers nationwide.

Today, in preparation for the 2027 general elections, our wonderful party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), formally began its statewide screening process for all candidates running for executive and parliamentary positions on the party’s platform.

The statement stated, “The high-profile screening of presidential and governorship aspirants is taking place at the national level in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while the screening of senatorial, federal, and state legislative hopefuls is underway across designated centers nationwide.”

Prior to the 2027 general elections, 3,181 candidates will be examined, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) group supported by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, as reported by Naija News.

The faction announced the creation of screening committees and appeal panels in a statement posted on its 𝕏 account on Sunday.

The declaration lists 2,122 candidates for state assemblies, 748 for the House of Representatives, 198 for the Senate, 112 for governorships, and one for the presidency.

The statement stated, “The Interim National Working Committee (iNWC) hereby announces the publication of the under-listed members to serve as the Screening Committees and Screening Appeal Panels in accordance with the approved Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Elections by the National Executive Committee (NEC) at its 104th Meeting.”
