A former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has dismissed the planned national convention of the Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He claimed in an interview with Daily Trust that Wike and Taminu Turaki’s contributions to the PDP’s expansion are negligible and that they were unaware of the party’s founding.
Remember that Lamido had already called on interested parties to put down their weapons and support Wike’s caretaker structure.
But Lamido made it clear in the interview that he only wants to bring about harmony within the PDP and does not endorse Wike.
“I want to be clear,” he remarked. Which faction do you mean when you mention that this is the Wike faction? You are referring to the PDP, which is my party. Wike and Turaki were unaware of the party’s formation. Therefore, a faction led by A or B is unaware of how the PDP was established.
“This is crucial. PDP is owned by Nigerians. PDP was established in 1998 by intellectuals and political figures. leaders who were familiar with Nigeria since its independence. Adamu Chiroma, Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Bola Ige, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, Abubakar Rimi, and Professor Jerry Gana are among those who are familiar with Nigeria. Among them, I am the youngest.
These individuals battled for democracy during Abacha. NADECO and the others came later. If you choose people like Solomon Lar and others, they have no impact or consequence. After June 12, NADECO arrived.
“I want you to understand that we are discussing Nigeria and Nigerian interests, not the interests of individuals.
Therefore, please make an effort to distance Nigeria from these minor names; this is crucial. Thus, the PDP was established by these individuals who took some time to think things through and came up with a powerful party that was a sort of consensus of all the beliefs or ideologies. The NPN and UPN components. In actuality, every independent Nigerian political activist you are aware of joined the PDP in 1998. In other words, it isn’t liberalism, capitalism, socialism, or radicalism. It is obviously about Nigeria, a nation that has been meant to play a part in this world.
We can only fulfill this responsibility if we unite as a nation that God has richly given with a robust culture, history, and traditions, a hardworking populace, and the ability to improve the world if we so choose.
Since all of these people are PDP beneficiaries, you are not treating us fairly. Therefore, I am more concerned about PDP if people are moving to areas where there may be interest.
I support the PDP, not Wike. However, as a result of our activities, we have unintentionally reached a point where APC is profiting from the animosity, rage, insults, and other things. Tinubu and the APC.
“The primary concern is how to win the election; I don’t have any issues.” However, the more we battle, the weaker we get.
