Buhari’s former assistant Onochie said, “Tinubu is gone.”

Lauretta Onochie, a former media assistant to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, has launched a new assault on President Bola Tinubu, claiming that he destroys everything he comes into contact with.

In a post on 𝕏 on Thursday, Onochie claimed that Tinubu’s leadership has weakened the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Additionally, the former presidential assistant asserted that Tinubu lacked a clear route to victory in the 2027 presidential contest.

Onochie said that the APC was no longer the party it once was on her 𝕏 account.

“Whatever @officialABAT touches,” she wrote. He ruins. APC has vanished.

“There is no possibility for Tinubu to reach 2027. He is no longer there. Tinubu has left. Blessings to Nigeria. @Laurestar, Lauretta Onochie

Her remarks came after a movie produced by artificial intelligence that showed the late Buhari questioning Tinubu about his experience with the APC.

Both the President’s friends and detractors seemed to respond to the footage, which went viral online.

According to Naija News, Onochie’s remarks coincide with the growing momentum of political alliances and criticism in the run-up to the general elections in 2027.

It is anticipated that the APC, which elected Tinubu president in 2023, will run for reelection in 2027.

Nonetheless, in an attempt to oppose the ruling party in the upcoming presidential election, opposition groups and political players have persisted in stepping up discussions and coalition-building initiatives.

Despite the fact that the APC presently has power in 31 states thanks to elected governors and defectors, the administration’s detractors argue that internal party strife, economic hardship, and insecurity could harm the party’s prospects in 2027.

Onochie, a former Buhari media assistant, has recently adopted stances critical of Tinubu and the APC.

As the upcoming election cycle progressively takes shape, her most recent attack contributes to the increasing public interactions between politicians, former government officials, and party faithful.

Onochie’s claim has not yet received an official reaction from the APC or the Presidency at the time this article was filed.

On Wednesday, May 20, President Bola Tinubu said that some people impacted by his administration’s changes in the oil subsidy and foreign exchange sectors were wishing him dead.

Tinubu claimed that big interests who profited from the previous system were angered by the decision to eliminate the petrol subsidy and cancel multiple exchange rates.

At the publication of Chief Ayo Opadokun’s book, “The NADECO Story,” the President gave a speech in Lagos.

Awards were also given out at the occasion to people who were instrumental in Nigeria’s democratic movement under the National Democratic Coalition between 1994 and 1998.

Chief Olusegun Osoba, a former governor of Ogun State, represented Tinubu at the function.

Osoba delivered Tinubu’s message, stating that the President was aware of purported attempts by some interests to sabotage the nation’s peace due to his economic reforms.

He claimed that people who benefited from petrol subsidies and foreign exchange round-tripping were dissatisfied with the administration’s policies.

Regarding security, he continues, “I should let you know that he is aware that there is a deliberate attempt to disrupt the peace of this country by people whom he knew he had offended by cancelling oil subsidies and multiple exchange rates,” Osoba stated.

“Those round-tripping cabals will wish him dead at any moment, but he is determined to make sure he rearranges the economy if that is the only thing he would do,” he said. He is resolved to confront it no matter what. That is Mr. President’s message, then.

When Tinubu took office in 2023, he declared that the gasoline subsidy would be eliminated and subsequently implemented foreign exchange reforms, including as the harmonization of exchange rates.

The government has maintained that the policies were required to stabilize the economy, but many Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction with growing living expenses, sparking ongoing discussion throughout the nation.

According to Osoba, Tinubu promised NADECO members that their sacrifices to the fight would not be forgotten and acknowledged their contributions to Nigeria’s restoration to democracy.
