Tragic: In a failed abduction attempt, gunmen murder the Ondo king

Oba Kehinde Jacob Faledun, the traditional ruler of Ahungha Village, Agamo Area, Akure North council area, Ondo state state, was hacked by suspected gunmen.

At approximately 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday, ten suspected gunmen broke into the palace in an attempt to kidnap the king or queen, a family insider told reporters.

The source claims that after the monarch fought with his kidnappers, they shot him multiple times, but the bullets did not enter his body.

He was allegedly beaten on the head with a hard object after being smuggled out of the castle.

After his attackers had left the area, his family members later found his lifeless corpse.

The monarch’s wife attested to the fact that the assassins of the traditional ruler spoke Hausa and entered through the Taogbolu axis.

“They killed my husband in my presence,” she bemoaned.

The state police leadership quickly announced that the monarch had been killed.

DSP Jimoh Abayomi, the spokesperson for the commands, stated in Akure that at approximately 7:50 p.m., a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu, informed the Division that six armed men had broken into the monarch’s home, taken him by force from his compound, and then left the area.

“The victim was later discovered a few meters away with gunshot wounds,” Abayomi continued. At the site, his death was verified.

As per his statement, “as soon as the Divisional Police Officer received the report, command tactical teams quickly mobilized officers in coordination with local security groups, such as Atuluse Security, local hunters, and Amotekun operatives, to search the surrounding areas and adjacent bushes in an attempt to capture the criminals.”

The fugitive suspects are being sought and apprehended. To protect locals and stop further law and order breakdowns, monitoring and surveillance efforts have been stepped up throughout the region. The public is reassured by the Police Command that every effort will be made to hold those accountable for this horrible conduct accountable.

Members of the public who have reliable and actionable information are encouraged to report to the closest police station or get in touch with the Command, Abayomi said.
