The US supports Tinubu’s security reaction and condemns the “horrific” Kwara deaths.

As different death tolls from the brutal attack on the Woro and Nuku communities in Kwara State’s Kaiama Local Government Area continue to surface, the United States has denounced the incident.

Local reports and foreign observers have placed the death toll significantly higher than the Nigerian Police Force’s claim of 75 individuals killed in the assault.

The US Mission in Nigeria called the situation “horrific” in a statement put on X on Friday, stating that over 160 people were believed dead and that many more were still missing.

The censure complements previous responses from the Republic of Turkey and the United Nations.

After the attack, Tinubu authorized the establishment of a new military command to supervise the operation and directed the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama.

In order to restore peace, Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, also ordered the quick deployment of tactical and intelligence teams to Kaiama and the surrounding areas.

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the governor of Kwara State, stated that security forces were already present and that the deployment of troops under Operation Savannah Shield will aid in preventing additional violence.
