KANO — The Singa market, also known as the Kano critical commodities market, was partially destroyed by an early-morning fire on Monday.
At the time this story was filed, details on the fire that started in the early hours of the morning were still hazy.
However, the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire department, Saminu Yusif, said the department got a distress call about 3:16 am and deployed firefighting personnel to the scene to contain the fire.
He claimed that at around ten in the morning, several areas of the market were still on fire, and firefighters were fighting to contain the situation and stop it from getting worse.
He promised to provide media with information about the incident at a later time.
